UPump™ ("UPump," "the App") is an independent fuel price comparison tool operated in Canada and is not affiliated with Costco Wholesale.

This Privacy Policy complies with the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

1. Personal Information Collection

• We do not require user account creation, logins, or registration.
• We do not collect, store, or sell your name, email address, or phone number.
• We do not run third-party advertising networks or tracking cookies.
• Our hosting provider processes standard connection data (such as IP addresses) in its logs in order to serve the site — see section 4.

2. Location Data

UPump offers an optional "Near Me" feature to sort stations by distance. Your GPS coordinates are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to our servers. Location access is optional — you can decline it and search by city or postal code instead.

One exception: if you type a city or postal-code search that matches no station, the search text is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service to find nearby places (see section 4).

3. Price Alerts

On this website: price alerts are stored on your device and checked each time the site refreshes its prices while the page is open. Alerts on the website cannot notify you when the tab is closed.

In the UPump Android app: if you set a price alert and allow notifications, the app sends your device's push token together with your alert choices (station, fuel type, target price) to our notification server, so it can notify you when a price drops to your target — even when the app is closed.

• Purpose-limited: Your push token and alert choices are used only to deliver the price alerts you asked for. They are not used for marketing and are never shared with anyone else.
• Google's role: Notification delivery is handled by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, under Google's privacy policy.
• Removal: Deleting an alert in the app removes it from the notification server. Uninstalling the app stops all notifications, and leftover tokens are purged automatically once Google reports them invalid.

4. Third-Party Services

• Cloudflare hosts this website. Cloudflare processes connection data such as IP addresses in its logs to deliver the site, and provides Web Analytics on the website only — it is cookieless and does not track you across sites. The Android app does not include it.
• Google Fonts serves the site's fonts. When fonts load, Google receives your IP address and browser information, under Google's privacy policy.
• OpenStreetMap provides the map tiles when you open the map tab; tile requests reveal your IP address to OpenStreetMap's tile servers.
• Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) receives your typed search text only when a search matches no station, to geocode it.

5. Stored On Your Device

UPump keeps your preferences on your own device (browser local storage or the app's private storage) — never on our servers. This includes your saved search, fuel-type and radius choices, tank size, "Near Me" location memory, price-alert settings, safety confirmation, and the app's notification token. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app removes them.
